Over 150 people screened for hypertension and diabetes

Ludhiana, April 21, 2024: Two-day free health check-up camp at Hampton Homes, Chandigarh Road concluded here on Saturday evening. The camp was organsied by Hampton Sky Realty Limited under its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) programme.
The screening for hypertension and diabetes was done in the camp held under Mission Swasth Kavach “Ek Ne 20”. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) supported implementation of the Indian Hypertension Control Initiative (IHCI) components to holistically address the Hypertension burden of Ludhiana District. Mission Swasth Kavach is supervised by Dr Bishav Mohan, Professor of Cardiology, Hero DMC Heart Institute, Ludhiana.
A team of medical experts examined and treated the patients. Screening of around 160 people was done. The company’s staff members, residents of Hampton Homes and industrial workers from the nearby industries were examined and treated. Free medicines were given to the needy patients.
On the occasion, Dr. Bhoj Raj Sharma, DM - Cardiology, Hero DMC heart institute shared surprising and worrying findings from the population based Hypertension and diabetes screening conducted in industries of Ludhiana in 2022 to highlight the high prevalence of Hypertension and massive lack of awareness about high blood pressure observed in the industrial employees of the district and how the simple, easy habit of getting ones blood pressure checked regularly could be a potential life saver.
Dr Bhoj Raj Sharma briefed the patients about various reasons of hypertension and diabetes. He suggested that everyone must go for routine checkup for early detection of diseases. He said hypertension is silent killer therefore, this disease should never be taken lightly. He briefed the gathering about Mission Swasth Kavach “Ek Ne 20” and said under the mission a person is trained to test at least 20 persons for detecting hypertension problem.
Meanwhile, Sanjeev Arora, MP (Rajya Sabha), Vice President Managing Society DMCH and Managing Director Hampton Sky Realty Limited highly praised the medical team from Hero DMC Heart Institute, Ludhiana for this noble cause and assured his whole heartedly support in this endeavour.
