Chandigarh, April 28, 2025: More than 800 doctors from across India took part in the national conference EPIC 2025, organized by the Sweet Diabetes Foundation (a not-for-profit foundation) in Chandigarh, with a focus on ‘Obesity, Diabetes, and Stress’.

General V.P. Malik (retd.), former Army chief, who was the chief guest, praised both military and civilian doctors for their dedication, courage, and service under pressure. "Doctors are the unsung heroes of every battle — their courage matches that of those who fight at the front."

Organising Secretary Dr. Sachin Mittal welcomed delegates and stressed the urgent need for collective action to tackle lifestyle diseases like diabetes and obesity.

Lt. Gen. Narendra Kotwal highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance and the need to prioritize self-care and selfless service.

Renowned diabetologist Dr. Nikhil Bhagwat discussed how to better manage diabetes in young people. The doctors discussed strategies for managing obesity and diabetes, emphasized patient-centered care, and explored future treatment possibilities. Other leading medical experts also shared insights on innovative non-surgical therapies aimed at achieving remission in obesity and diabetes.
