Chandigarh, April 28, 2023: A section of the press has carried a news item stating that 90% of the wheat procured by the Government Agencies was beyond the relaxed specifications issued by Government of India. This is factually incorrect.
The correct position is that more than 90% of the wheat has been purchased under relaxed specifications issued by Government of India and the notified value cut for this quantity has been borne by the Government of Punjab, thereby ensuring that farmers get full MSP.
