PADDY ARRIVAL: 60,10,614 tonnes paddy procured in Punjab

Chandigarh, October 25, 2012:  Paddy Procurement is on full swing in Punjab. Government agencies and private millers procured more than 6010614  tonnes of paddy till last evening. The State Government has set up more than 1770  procurement centres and activated its total machinery to ensure smooth procurement of paddy.

The spokesman of the Punjab government said that Out of total procurement of 6010614  tonnes of paddy in all the procurement centers of Punjab, Government agencies procured 5547956 tonnes of paddy till date whereas private traders procured 462658  tonnes of paddy. Till October 24, PUNGRAIN procured 1542506  tonnes (27.8%), MARKFED procured 1267715  tonnes (22.9%). whereas PUNSUP had procured 1269607 tonnes (22.9%) PSWC procured 580046 tonnes (10.5%) whereas PAFC was able to procure  592719 tonnes (10.7%) of paddy.The Central Government agency FCI had  been able to procure 295363  tonnes (5.3%). 

The spokesman added that District Ferozpur with 634540 tonnes of procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas District Tarn Taran with Jalandhar 480763 tonnes of procurement was at second slot and district Tarn Taran with 459170  tonnes of procurement ranked at third position.
