PANCHAYAT ELECTIONS 2018: ON FIRST DAY OF FILING OF NOMINATIONS, ONE NOMINATION EACH FILED FOR SARPANCH & PANCH

Ludhiana, December 15, 2018: Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer Mr Pardeep Kumar Agrawal has informed that the process for filing of nominations for upcoming Gram Panchayat elections has started from today onwards and would continue till December 19, 2018. The nominations can be filed between 11 am to 3 pm daily and a notification in this regard has already been issued by the Punjab State Election Commission.

He informed that on the first day of the filing of nominations, one nomination was filed for post of Sarpanch in Block Ludhiana-2 and one for panch in Samrala block. He informed that the scrutiny of nomination papers would be done on December 20, 2018, the withdrawal of nominations would be till 3 pm on December 21, 2018 and later on the same day, the election symbols would be allotted. The voting would be held from 8 am to 4 pm on December 30, 2018 and after counting, the results would be declared the same evening.

He informed that the process of electing 941 Sarpaches and 6391 panches would be carried out in a peaceful and transparent manner.

Mr Pardeep Kumar Agrawal informed that the places/offices where the nominations can be filed have already been fixed. He said that the nominations of villages under Block Dehlon can be filed at the office of Block Development and Panchayat Officer Dehlon and Veterinary Office Dehlon; nominations of villages under Block Doraha can be filed at Nagar Council Office Doraha and Secretary Market Committee Doraha; for block Jagraon at Agriculture Office, Market Committee Office, Nagar Council Office and Food Supplies Office Jagraon; for Block Khanna at Market Committee office, for Block Ludhiana-1 at Satguru Ram Singh Government Polytechnic College (Girls), Rishi Nagar, Ludhiana; for block Ludhiana-2 at Government Senior Secondary School, Jawahar Nagar Camp near Bus Stand, Ludhiana; for block Pakhowal at Block Development and Panchayat Office, Pakhowal; for block Raikot at Market Committee office, Raikot; for block Machhiwara at Block Development and Panchayat Office, Market Committee office and Nagar Council Office, Sri Machhiwara Sahib; for Block Malaud at Nagar Panchayat Office and Market Committee office, Malaud; for Block Samrala at PWD Office, Nagar Council Office and Market Committee office, Samrala; for block Sidhwan Bet at the office of Child Development and Protection Officer and BPEO Office Sidhwan Bet. The nominations of villages under Block Sudhar can be filed at Guru Teg Bahadur Institute of Management & Technology, College Road, Dakha.

The District Election Officer Ludhiana today held a meeting with all the concerned officials and issued necessary instructions. He also directed all Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers to remain seated in the offices where the nominations have to be filed from 9 am to 5 pm. ADC (D) Dr Shena Aggarwal was also present on the occasion.
