Chandigarh, February 16, 2015: Department of Sanskrit, Panjab University (PU) held its annual function where inter-university Sanskrit competitions and a panel discussion on "relevance of Sanskrit in the modern technological age". Prof. Mathura Dutta Pandey, winner of certificate of honour from President of India was chief guest.

Pandey in his address delved deep into the relevance of Sanskrit. Prof. Shankarji Jha, H.O.D Sanskrit propounded that the advancement of science and technology must be brought under control of moral law.

That moral law is inculcated and taught by the study of sanskrit literature which teaches and inculcates the moral values in the people in general. Other panelists were Prof. Surendra Shastri (retired) Sanskrit teacher at D.A.V. College,Sector-14, Prof. S.K. Rai, Sanskrit Department, Government College for men, Sector-11,and Dr. Devi Singh, Assistant Prof. Of Sanskrit, S.D. College just, Sector-32, Chandigarh. The function was presided over by Vikram Kumar of Sanskrit Department P.U. (SK Vyas/Jalandhar)
