Chandigarh, September 17, 2022: The A C Joshi Library, Panjab University organized a panel discussion on “From a Right-and-Privilege-Centric Bharat to a Duty-Centric Bharat: A National Pledge (Raj Path se Kartavya Path ki aor). The panelists were eminent scholars Prof. Sudhir Kumar (Director, R & D Cell and University Librarian (Additional Charge), Dr. Y.K. Anand (Prof. Retd. NITTTR, Chd.), Prof. Yojana Rawat (USOL) and Prof. V.K. Alankar (Dept. of Sanskrit) and it was moderated by Dr. Neeraj Kumar Singh, Deputy Librarian, Panjab University. The panel discussion was attended by the library staff and more than 40 students.
This discussion was a part of the 75 years of Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav being celebrated all over India. The panelists emphasized the importance of kartavya for the citizens and wanted them to be aware of their duties towards the nation to take India to new heights. Prof. Sudhir explained that the word ‘dharm’ has 62 meanings and elaborated it in context of nyay, neeti, dand, adhikar, kartavya, etc. Prof. Yojna Rawat was of the view that our future is decided on our karma. She explained the rise of women in this era comparing it with past era. Prof. Alankar clearly explained the relevance of many Sanskrit words in the present context. Prof. Y K Anand explained moolyon ka change. Paradigm shift from Raj Path to Kartavya Path was amply deliberated upon by the panelists. On the whole the discussion was very informative and fruitful.
