Chandigarh, February 6, 2025: Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh is all set to host the 14th Panjab University Rose Festival from February 7.
PU Vice Chancellor Prof. Renu Vig will inaugurate the Rose Festival at 3 PM on Feb 7. More than 115 varieties of Rose plants are adorning the garden. 10 new varieties namely Arina 93, Singing in the Rain, Arunima, Milky Way, Victor Hugo, Doctor Goldberg, Sun Song, Jayanthi etc. have been added in the rose garden this year. The Rose Festival will have series of cultural functions and competitions.
A three-day affair, Panjab University Rose Festival will have Flower Competition on the first day. Mr. and Ms. Rose Competition and performance by Jagjit Wadali will be held in the evening.
On the second day, Rangoli and Painting competitions will be held. The evening will see performances by Rock Band “Parwaaz”.
On third day, Rose Prince & Princess Competition will take place during the day and crowning ceremony will be held after the competition. In the evening, there will be performance by Punjabi Singer Jeet Jagjit.
The competitions are seeing good response. More than 500 entries have been received for the competitions. Those interested to participate in the competitions can apply at Single Window Enquiry, Panjab University till 10 am on Feb 7, 2025.
Prof. R.C. Paul Rose Garden spread over an area of 2.5 acre, has been given a facelift for the Festival. The entrance gates have been beautified and hedges have been better designed.
Space will be provided to sponsors to showcase their products and services which will get vast publicity due to huge gatherings expected at the festival like previous years. Those interested can contact the Organiser, Er. Amandeep Singla.
Several stalls to create awareness among masses on various issues like environment, blood donation, legal assistance etc. will be put up at 14thPanjab University Rose Festival by ENACTUS, Deptt. of Environment Sciences, Panjab University; State Legal Services Authority, U.T., Chandigarh, Manav Kalyan Parisar, Natural Biodiversity etc.
