Panjab University Alumni Association organized scholarship award ceremony 

Chandigarh February 29, 2024: Panjab University Alumni Association organized scholarship award ceremony on Thursday to celebrate and acknowledge the academic and extracurricular accomplishments of meritorious students, who stood first in various courses of Panjab University affiliated colleges and departments. 

The function also witnessed distribution of stipends under various endowment funds. Padam Shri, Prof. Harmohinder Singh Bedi, Chancellor of Central University of Himachal Pradesh was the Chief Guest and Prof. Sanjay Kaushik, Director College Development Council was guest of honor for the event. Prof. Renu Vig Vice Chancellor and President PUAA delivered an inspirational and motivational address that resonated profoundly with the students. She said that challenges are everywhere whether you study abroad or in your own country. You should learn to focus on the best you can do. Her eloquent speech left a lasting impact, instilling a sense of encouragement and motivation among the audience. The event was attended by over 100 students from colleges and university departments.
 
The event started with a welcome address by Prof. Latika Sharma, Dean, Alumni Relations, Panjab University, started the event by welcoming all the Alumni of the batch 2019-20 and invited guests. She introduced them formally and congratulated the Scholarship awardees and their proud parents. She said that it is a momentous occasion where by honouring such meritorious students, we are honouring ourselves, our rich heritage and value systems for which our great heritage university has stood for since its inception. It is also the occasion to express our gratitude to all the donors who have been liberally financing such awards and providing incentives to budding students to realize their dreams. Such financial support has been of tremendous help to the PUAA.

The Chief Guest of the event, Prof. Harmohinder Singh Bedi in his motivating speech urged the students to participate in extracurricular activities, workshop, and conferences to hone their skills and to learn things beyond the curriculum. He said that the students should focus on diligence and consistency and with perseverance they will achieve success. He provided the example of “Krishna and Sudama”. He further emphasized on hard work with which success comes automatically.  

The Guest of honor, Prof. Sanjay Kaushik applauded all the students and said that we all have gone through struggles of which taught us various lessons of life. He congratulated everyone for winning the awards. He said that the relationship between university and students is similar to the relationship between the mother and a child. The bond between these two is very precious, delicate and lifelong so we should always keep it strong. He said that once a student arrives at the university, he/she became a part of it. The memories of stay in the university always stay with us. Whenever the word Alumni comes into our mind we also get a flashback of all our beautiful memories. At the end of his address, he said that there is a thin line between success and failure so never give up, keep working hard and be successful. He also requested students to share their ideas with the university.

In this award function PUAA has given scholarship to 165 toppers and 14 students were given stipends through various endowment schemes. The students enthusiastically participated in the event and expressed their gratitude towards PUAA.

Prof. Latika Sharma extended a formal vote of thanks to the invited guests and gathering of Senate members, Dean Students Welfare, DUI, former PUAA Dean, members of Executive Committee, Chairpersons, faculty members, Students and their parents and alumni staff gracefully concluding the event. Her expression of gratitude highlighted the collective contributions that enriched the occasion and acknowledged the significance of everyone’s presence.
