Panjab University and ROTTO North ignite flame of organ donation awareness

Chandigarh December 19, 2024: In a powerful stride toward promoting organ donation, ROTTO North PGIMER, in collaboration with Panjab University, organized a landmark awareness session at the university’s Senate Hall today. The event saw enthusiastic participation from the Department of Accounts and Finance, further solidifying Panjab University's commitment to the noble cause of organ donation.

The session was presided over by Prof (Dr) Vipin Koushal, Medical Superintendent of PGIMER and Nodal Officer of ROTTO PGIMER. The other dignitaries who graced the occasion were CA(Dr) Vikram Nayyar, Finance and Development Officer, PU who was instrumental in organizing this session for the Department of Accounts, Dr Muneeshwar Joshi, former Secretary to Vice Chancellor, PU and Sanjeev Sharma, a retired SBI banker.

Highlighting the need for collective efforts, Dr. Koushal emphasised, “Organ donation is not just a medical act; it is a social responsibility. The participation of institutions like Panjab University ensures that awareness reaches every corner of society.”

A key highlight of the session was a presentation on organ donation delivered by Saryu D. Misra, who detailed the importance of pledging organs and addressed queries from attendees. Her engaging discourse inspired many participants to take the pledge to donate their organs, symbolising a significant step toward societal change.

Adding a personal touch to the event, CA(Dr) Vikram Nayyar, Finance and Development Officer, Panjab University, remarked, “Organ donation is a gift of life. By educating our employees today, we hope to plant the seed of this life-saving cause in every family represented here.”
The event also featured a heartfelt address by Mr. Sanjeev Sharma. Reflecting on his motivation, he shared, “Having witnessed the impact of organ donation firsthand, I believe awareness is the first step. It’s an honor to contribute to this initiative and help bridge the gap between need and action.”

Panjab University, known for its progressive stance on societal issues, has consistently championed organ donation initiatives. Speaking about the collaboration, Dr. Vipin Koushal lauded the university’s unwavering support, stating, “Panjab University’s commitment to promoting organ donation exemplifies the leadership needed to drive this mission forward. Saryu D. Misra addressed the queries of the participants and the event concluded on a hopeful note, with several attendees pledging their organs and committing to spreading awareness within their circles.
