Chandigarh, November 4, 2022: The Department of Music, Panjab University, Chandigarh in order to celebrate November 2022 as Punjabi Month organised an event “Punjab de Lok Geet”. Students participated in the event very enthusiastically and presented traditional Lok Geet of Punjab including songs on Heer, Mirza, Jugni, Jagga, and Mahia. Students including Satvinder, Arshdeep, Manpreet, Nitika, Diksha, Harshubhdeep, Ashutosh, Jagsir, Amanjot, Manjot, Shubham, Romi, Rakesh, Inderjeet, Gurdeep and Vaishnavi presented songs of Punjab very actively and energetically.
On this occasion. The Chairperson, Professor Neelam Paul on this occasion said that lok geet are glimpse of Punjabi culture enriched with feelings, hobbies, freedom and strength. On this occasion Professor Neelam Paul honoured the winners of Punjab University Zonal Youth Festival 2022-23. She also appreciated the efforts of Tabla accompanist Rajneesh Dhiman and Harmonium Player Rakesh Kumar.
