Chandigarh, February 11, 2023: Panjab University, Chandigarh is conducting workshops under Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN).

The workshop entitled, “Service Design Concepts for Silver Market: Design Thinking Approach” was conducted from 6th February- 10th February 2023. The guest faculty for the workshop was Dr. Sangeeta Karmokar from University of Auckland, New Zealand. There were 46 participants from different institutions. The workshop included the following lectures and practical sessions from day 1 to day 5:

•        Ideation: Introduction of creative thinking frameworks and understanding of silver market needs and requirements. Providing overview of design processes and the stages of creative process. Exposing to some case studies and live international projects
Practical Session: Using design thinking tools for reviewing, empathy mapping and laterally thinking. Identifying the resources required such as technology and material

•        Defining:  Reviewing the needs, brainstorming various creative ideas, empathy mapping, understanding strengths and weakness of these concepts from users view and creating statement of intent using design thinking tools.
Practical Session: Using design thinking tools for refining the concepts and implementing selection process for prototyping
•        Refining: Refining the concepts, validating the feasibility of the ideas, applying divergent and convergent principles and discarding ideas.
Practical Session Using design thinking tools for refining the concepts and implementing selection process for prototyping
•        Prototyping: Introduction to various low fidelity prototyping and play testing such as empathy mapping, card games and role playing.
Practical Session: Designing, questionnaire, empathy maps and mood boards for data collection
•        Evaluation: Evaluating the prototypes for its feasibility, viability and desirability. Understanding the iterative method of design using suitable design frameworks
Practical Session: Refining the prototype based on the results of iterative testing
•        Reflective practices, journal/documentary and feed forward
Practical Session: Participants are presenting their refined prototypes and reflective journals.
The workshop was a great opportunity for the participants to learn about the field of silver design and its concepts.
