Panjab University explores collaborative research and teaching with Australian Universities
As part of International Science and Technology Week 2024, eminent scientist from Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia, Prof. Bharat Patel delivered an insightful talk on 'Practical Approaches to Microbial Genomics and Metagenomics'. Chandigarh, November 20, 2024: As part of International Science and Technology Week 2024, eminent scientist from Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia, Prof. Bharat Patel delivered an insightful talk on 'Practical Approaches to Microbial Genomics and Metagenomics'. Many eminent scientists from Russia, France, Germany, Australia, UK, China, USA, Switzerland and Denmark, UK, China, USA, Switzerland and Denmark will deliver talks during the university’s week-long celebrations of scientific innovation and knowledge exchange.
Prof. Patel was warmly welcomed by the PU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Renu Vig along with the coordinators of the Section of Biomedical Sciences, Prof. Rajat Sandhir and Prof. Naveen Gupta. The discussions focused on exploring opportunities for academic and research collaborations between Panjab University, Queensland University of Technology, and other universities in Australia, with the potential to formalize these partnerships through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Prof. Patel’s lecture highlighted cutting-edge methodologies and applications in microbial genomics and metagenomics, fields that are rapidly transforming microbiology, biotechnology, and environmental sciences. Prof. Patel offered valuable guidance on writing research articles, emphasizing the importance of effective knowledge dissemination within the scientific community. Hosted by the Department of Microbiology at Panjab University, the session was chaired by Prof. Prince Sharma and Prof. Rajat Sandhir. The event saw active participation from 250 attendees, including faculty members, research scholars, and students. Both in-person and online participants engaged in lively discussions following the lecture, reflecting the growing interest in genomics and metagenomics in contemporary scientific research.
