Panjab University hosting students from Nottingham Trent University
Diversity across cultures: The Indian Story
Chandigarh, August 8, 2022: Panjab University is hosting students from Nottingham Trent University, who are visiting the campus and the city for short-term mobility under the Turing Scheme from August 7-14, 2022. Under the stewardship of Prof. Deepti Gupta, Dean International Students, a host of academic sessions, excursions and workshops are being organized, showcasing the rich culture and diversity of India and Punjab.
The day began with an Inaugural Session at UIAMS and introduction of Faculty Team consisting of Prof. Sanjeev K. Sharma, University Institute of Applied Management Sciences (UIAMS), Prof. Renu Thakur, Dept. of Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology (AIHC), Prof. Simrit Kahlon, Centre for Advanced Study in Geography, Dr. Anu H.Gupta, University Institute of Fashion Technology & Vocational Development (UIFT &VD), Chef Jaswinder, University Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management (UIHTM), Prof. Sukhmani Bal Riar Dept. of History, Dr. Priyatosh Sharma Dept. of History, Prof. Monika Aggarwal, University Institute of Applied Management Sciences, Dr Manu Sharma University Institute of Applied Management Sciences, Dr. Ramandeep Bawa, University Institute of Fashion Technology & Vocational Development.
It was followed by Lamp Lighting by Caroline Rowett, Deputy High Commissioner of UK at Chandigarh, Guest of Honour, Prof. Renu Vig, Dean University Instruction, Prof. Sudhir Kumar, Director, R&D, Prof. Jagtar Singh, Dean Student Welfare, Dr Roopali Garg, Dean Student Welfare, Women, Prof. Renu Thakur, Mentor, Global Summer School, Prof. Deepti Gupta, Dean International Students and Prof. Monika Aggarwal, Coordinator, Summer School.
Post the welcome address by Prof. Renu Vig and Guest of Honour, Caroline Rowett, Deputy High Commissioner of UK at Chandigarh, a tree plantation was conducted. This was followed by an Academic Session on Venture Capital and Startup Ecosystem in India by Dr. Manu Sharma, UIAMS and Ancient Indian Wisdom by Prof. Sudhir Kumar, Director, R & D. The day concluded with an Academic Session on Introduction to Chandigarh by Prof. Simrit Kahlon, Coordinator ISSER. Dr. Anu H. Gupta, Chairperson, UIFT& VD enlightened the students about Handloom Day following a trip, under the supervision of Prof. Simrit Kahlon, Prof. Renu Thakur and Dr Anu H.Gupta to Sector 17, Rose Garden Underpass and FabIndia store to commemorate it.
