Panjab University hosts “Manak Fiesta”
The Chandigarh branch office of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in collaboration with the Centre for Social Work, Panjab University (PU), today organised "Manak Fiesta", a fair for standards and quality, at the Student Centre, Panjab University, to mark the BIS Foundation Day.
Chandigarh, December 23, 2024: The Chandigarh branch office of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in collaboration with the Centre for Social Work, Panjab University (PU), today organised "Manak Fiesta", a fair for standards and quality, at the Student Centre, Panjab University, to mark the BIS Foundation Day.
Director, BIS Chandigarh, Vishal Tomer said, "The purpose of organising Manak Fiesta is to provide a direct platform for students to learn about standards followed in manufacturing processes at various industries, enabling them to become aware consumers."
Assistant Professor at PU's Centre for Social Work, Dr. Gaurav Gaur appreciated the efforts of BIS, Chandigarh, in promoting standards and thanked for choosing Panjab University to hold this important event.
The event witnessed a footfall of more than 1500 students and officials despite the inclement weather. A total of 30 stalls were set up by industry, NGO exhibitions, and games. Other attractions at the event included face painting, nukkad natak, quiz, and snake ladder games.
The cultural Punjabi folk performance of tappe by school students of GSSS, Jandiali, Ludhiana, remained the highlight of the event. Student's volunteers of MSW took students from various government schools of Punjab and Chandigarh for exposure visit to different departments of Panjab University.
BIS officials, Ajay Maurya, Kushagra Jindal, Harsh Sonkar, Saurabh Verma, and answered queries from students about BIS, standard marks, standard processes, and their roles at BIS. Students and mentors appreciated BIS for providing a platform for an enriching learning experience.
