Panjab University organised extension activity
The Department of Microbiology, Panjab University, Chandigarh today organized an extension activity in which the grade 9 students of Sri Aurobindo School of Integral Education, Sector 27, Chandigarh actively participated.
Chandigarh, April 8, 2022: The Department of Microbiology, Panjab University, Chandigarh today organized an extension activity in which the grade 9 students of Sri Aurobindo School of Integral Education, Sector 27, Chandigarh actively participated. The activity was organized to inculcate scientific curiosity in young minds and to extend student’s classroom learning to research laboratory-based learning.
The programme started with a brief introduction of the Department by the Chairman, Dr. Deepak K. Rahi. Dr. Rahi also discussed about the various developments in the field of microbiology and how is it contributing to the development of the society. Prof. Prince Sharma, former dean science and Prof. S.K. Soni also interacted with the students and motivated them to engage with science. This was followed by visit to different laboratories of the department where the students were briefed by the department faculty and the research scholars about the basics of microbiology, instrumentation and the current research being carried out in their respective fields. The students were also provided with refreshments in the end. The program left the students highly motivated and interested in learning more about science particularly microbiology and see it as relevant to everyday life.
