Panjab University Prof Alankar gets Shiromani Award in Sanskrit
Prof Alankar has written more than 15 books
Chandigarh: Bhasha Vibhag of Punjab annually awards writers of Punjab for the development and promotion of languages. The Sahitya Shiromani Awards (for 2015 to 2020 have been announced. Sanskrit Department, P.U. Chairman, Prof. V. K. Alankar has been selected for the Punjab Sahitya Shiromani (Sanskrit) Award for the year 2019. Prof. Alankar has written more than 15 books on subjects like Vedas, Philosophy of Sanskrit Grammar, Mimansa Philosophy, Literature, Pali etc. He is a well known Sanskrit poet. Last month a new Kavya ‘Valmikiprashastikavyam’ (Poetry work) of Prof. Alankar has also been published. He has attended and presented so many Papers in World Sanskrit Conferences. In the year 2015, at the World Sanskrit Conference in Thailand, he presented his paper on the writings of Punjab and in 2018, he conducted a session at the World Sanskrit Conference in Vancouver, Canada and presented his paper on the ‘Contribution of Punjab to Vedic Studies’.
For the World Sanskrit Conference to be held in Australia in January 2022. Alankar's research paper on ‘Guru Nanak Dev Ji” has been accepted for presentation. Prof. Alankar has also been honored by many academies and institutions of Haryana, Delhi, Chandigarh and Mumbai for his contribution to Vedic and Sanskrit Studies.
It is a matter of great pride for Sanskrit Department, P.U. that Dr. Ramakant Angiras, former Professor of Sanskrit, has been selected for 2015 and Dr. Ved Prakash Upadhyay former Professor of Sanskrit, has been selected for 2016 for Sahitya Shiromani Sanskrit Award.
