Panjab University (PU) Institutions Innovation Council (IIC) today discussed plan for nurturing a culture of innovation, supporting startups, and enhancing collaboration between academia and industry in PU.
Chandigarh October 24, 2024: Panjab University (PU) Institutions Innovation Council (IIC) today discussed plan for nurturing a culture of innovation, supporting startups, and enhancing collaboration between academia and industry in PU.
The meeting was convened by the newly appointed President of PU IIC Prof. Ganga Ram Chaudhary at the seminar hall of the Center for Instrumentation Laboratory (CIL) in which, members and special invitees representing various faculties and departments participated. The IIC is an initiative by the Ministry of Education in India aimed at promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in higher education institutions.
The meeting saw enthusiastic participation from all members and special invitees, who expressed their commitment to collaborate effectively for enhancing the university's NIRF and other rankings. The IIC’s efforts are based on six key pillars: R & D Innovation, Startups, Incubation and Pre-Incubation, Design Thinking and Critical Thinking, Entrepreneurship, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), among other initiatives.
IIC President Prof. Ganga Ram Chaudhary and IIC Convenor Prof. Gurmeet Kaur said that the university's ranking are determined by a combination of factors: 40% based on the IIC calendar-driven activities, 30% from self-initiated efforts, 20% from initiatives driven by the Ministry of Education, and 10% from celebration day activities. This comprehensive approach aims to position PU prominently in the NIRF rankings.
