Panjab University Students Participated in National Environment Youth Parliament 2024
Six students from Panjab University and two students from GGDSD- 32, PU affiliated college participated in National Environment Youth Parliament 2024,organised jointly by Paryavaran Sanrakshan Gatividhi (PSG) and Student for Development (SFD)from 10-11 February 2024 at Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur. NEYP 2024 theme was “Paryavaran Chetna- Nurturing Green Youth leadership for a Sustainable Future”. Over 164 students all over India participated in this national event.

Zaid Ali from UILS, Sanjeev Bhardwaj, AparnaGautam from Environment Studies, Dikshant Sharma from Sociology, Lakshay Khaiwal from UIET of Panjab University and Nakul Phull and Aniket Verma from GGDSD- 32 College represented Panjab University. All participant were very enthusiastic that they get opportunity to represent their university in National Environment Youth Parliament 2024 and visit the VidhanSadan of Nagpur.
These Youth Environment leader hadfruitful debate and discussions in two main sessions on "Climate Change and Indian Cooperative Federalism: Nurturing a Greener Future" and "India's Vision for Global Collaboration on Tackling Climate Change: Strengthening Adaptation Strategies and Climate Justice" held in VidhanSadan of Nagpur.
Prof Suman Mor,Department of Environmental Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh and Regional Coordinator of NEYP 24 stated that it is matter of pride that Panjab University has been selected to act as regional host for state of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand. In total 17 students, including Six students from Panjab University, two students from GGDSD- 32, PU affiliated college, 03 students from GNDU, Amritsar and 06 students from Kumayu University represented these region. Dr.Mor said that such platform give opportunity to youth to demonstrate leadership and debate skills while addressing major environmental issues.
Prof RenuVig, Vice Chancellor Panjab University, Chandigarh Congratulated these students for their representation in NEYP 2024 and stated that our youth should contribute in protection of our environment by taking small actions.
