Ropar/Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders have condemned the derogatory remarks made by Khalistani supporter Gurpatwant Pannun about the Constitution's architect, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. They said that Pannun is attempting to create divisions among the people of Punjab, but his efforts will not succeed, as the people of Punjab will never let such intentions prevail.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday in Ropar, AAP MLA Dr. Charanjit Singh, Dinesh Chadha, and AAP leader Harminder Dhahe strongly criticized Pannun’s remarks.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Charanjit Singh described Pannun's comments as highly condemnable. He said that Punjab's gurus have always preached humanity and equality among all. Punjab has never experienced violence based on caste or religion, and they hope this harmony will continue in the future. He added that those attempting to divide Punjab will fail in their malicious attempts.
He highlighted that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar is not only a symbol for Dalits but has granted constitutional rights to women, minorities, and all marginalized communities. Dr. Ambedkar is not limited to any specific caste or religion; he is an icon and a source of inspiration for the entire nation.
The AAP leader asserted that they are not intimidated by such statements or threats. On April 14, the birth anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar, all AAP leaders and workers will protect his statues and give a befitting reply to such miscreants.
