Air Commodore Dr Gurwinder Singh Sethi, senior consultant kidney transplant at Paras Health said that patients suffering from chronic kidney disease can get kidney transplant now at Paras.

Dr Navjit Singh Sidhu, associate director at Paras Health Panchkula said, “Chronic Kidney disease (CKD) is a global health concern in society. It is estimated that about 11 to 13% of the adult population in the world suffers from CKD out of which three fourth have early or mild disease and remaining one fourth have relatively advanced disease. 0.1 percent of the world's population is in stage 5 CKD, which is in a dialysis requiring stage. In India approximately 1.5 to 2 lakh new patients of CKD are detected every year,”
Diabetes is the most common cause of CKD accounting for about 30 to 40% of adult cases, he pointed out.
“Conversely 20% to 30% of diabetics will develop diabetic kidney disease during their life. As the number of diabetic patients is increasing worldwide, the incidence of CKD can be expected to follow,”
Dr Sidhu further informed that CKD is a prominent cause of morbidity and mortality affecting patients. Thus, the prevention, early detection and prompt treatment of CKD is of utmost importance, asserted Dr Sidhu.
