Parvasi Sahit Adhyan Kender of GGN Khalsa College released issue of Parvas Magazine

The Parvasi Sahit Adhyan Kender of Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Ludhiana released the 32nd (April-June 2023,  Canada special Part-1) issue of Parvas Magazine and this event was chaired by Surinder Singh Sunar, President, Lok Manch, Punjab.

Ludhiana, April 15, 2023: The Parvasi Sahit Adhyan Kender of Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Ludhiana released the 32nd (April-June 2023,  Canada special Part-1) issue of Parvas Magazine and this event was chaired by Surinder Singh Sunar, President, Lok Manch, Punjab. Prof. Gurbhajan Gill, Chairman, Lok Virasat  Academy, Ludhiana and Dr. Lakhwinder Singh Johal, President, Punjabi Sahitya Academy, Ludhiana were special guests of the day. Besides them, renowned immigrant Punjabi writers Charanjit Singh Pannu (USA), Harsharan Kaur (Canada), Gurcharan Saggu (UK), Gurcharan Kaur Thind (Canada), Raminder Kaur Walia (Canada) and Prof. Jaspal Singh (Italy) graced the occasion with their presence.

At the beginning of the event, Dr. S. P. Singh, Former Vice-Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and current President, Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council formally welcomed everyone and informed the gathering that this issue comprises the biographies and literary contributions of about one hundred and fifty Punjabi writers who are currently residing at Ontario, Quebec, Halifax, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick.  He further recounted that the Parvasi Sahit Adhyan Kender of the college has a sincere desire and wish that the literary societies of these regions of Canada should work together for the promotion and dissemination of Punjabi language.

Prof. Gurbhajan Gill, Chairman Punjabi Lok Virasat Akademi, Ludhiana and Chief Advisor of Parvas Magazine praised the magazine published by Parvasi Sahitya Adhyan Kendra and said that this magazine has established its unique identity across the world. He said that besides providing details about the Canadian writers this issue also contains the valuable articles on Canadian Punjabi poetry and story. Surjit Toronto’s article about Canadian Punjabi poetry, Amandeep Hira’s account on the story and Sukhwant Hundal’s valuable analysis of the life and literary contribution of Amanpal Sara are major amongst them. 

Surinder Singh Sunnar, while discussing the various challenges being faced by the immigrants in a foreign land applauded the efforts of Parvasi Sahitya Adhyan Kendra to prepare an encyclopedia of immigrant Punjabi writers living all over the world. 

Head of Post Graduate Punjabi Department Prof. Sharanjit Kaur gave detailed information to the audience about this issue of Parvas. Principal of the college, Dr. Arvinder Singh formally thanked everyone and said that the Parvasi Sahitya Adhyan Kendra will continue to carry out such activities in the future as well. Coordinator of Parvasi Sahitya Adhyan Kendra, Dr. Tejinder Kaur expressed her heart felt gratitude to all the Canadian writers who have given their full support for this issue.

On this occasion, Honorary General Secretary of Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council, Harsharan Singh Narula, Dr. Guriqbal Singh, General Secretary Punjabi Sahitya Academy, Ludhiana, Poet Trailochan Lochi, Dr. Gurcharan Kaur Kochhar, Dr. Harpreet Singh Dua, Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Dr. Sushmindarjeet Kaur, Dr. Hargunjot Kaur, Dr. Bhupinderjit Kaur, Dr. Mandeep Kaur, Prof. Nidhi Bhanot, Rajinder Singh Sandhu and other faculty members of different departments of the college were also present.
