Patiala incident: An acid test for Bhagwant Mann
Recent incident of Patiala has once again raised eyebrows of people. People are unable to understand towards which direction Punjab is aheading. Punjab has witnessed the black era of militancy during 80s and 90s. The peace was restored in the state after a great struggle and sacrifices given by common men, Punjab police, security forces and political leaders. It is a hard fact that the neighbouring country always tried to play a proxy war to fulfill its nefarious goals. But, the proxy war has always proved failed due to the prevailing brotherhood in the state. People of Punjab and the security forces have always succeeded in maintaining national unity and integrity of the nation. Moreover, Punjabis are known for their rich culture, heritage and hard working in India and abroad. Therefore, it is high time that every Punjabi should take a pledge to maintain brotherhood and keep unity and integrity of the nation. At the same time, it is an acid test for Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Many senior police officers have already been transferred after the Patiala incident. The state government should also hold peace committee meetings at the district headquarters across Punjab to further calm down the situation.
Power demand
The demand for electricity has been increased manifold with the scorching heat in Punjab. The state government is doing all out efforts to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the masses. The power plants are working in its full capacity in Punjab and at the same time the state government is also purchasing power from the private players. The state government has announced to give 300 units of free power every month from July 1, 2022. There is an apprehension that the demand for power may increase from July 1, 2022 onwards because everyone will like to take benefit of this announcement. However, time will tell what exactly happens in the future.
BJP’s future strategy for Punjab
Punjab BJP seems to be in election mode again. The meetings of the party’s state office-bearers are being held. But, senior party leaders are being ignored. There are apprehensions that some party leaders may join AAP after leaving the party in view of the coming civic body elections. In-fact these leaders may want to fulfill their political goals. Previously, in the recently held assembly elections some senior BJP leaders like Madan Mohan Mittal have joined other political parties. As such, ignoring senior BJP leaders may once again cost the party dearer in municipal corporation elections. There is whispering in the party that if BJP can accommodate leaders from other parties in its family then why not review to bring back all those who have left in the past six months.
Punjab Congress: Working for survival?
After taking over as the PPCC chief Raja Amrinder Singh Warring is on tour programme in Punjab for motivating the party cadre who was demoralised after the crushing defeat in the assembly elections .He is saying that the party workers will soon come on roads and start agitating against the state government for not implementing the guarantees. Meanwhile, the suspension of party’s senior leader Sunil Jakhar will certainly effect its prospects in coming months, even though Congress has announced number of new office-bearers to strengthen the organisational structure.
SAD (B): Trying to strengthen organisational structure
SAD (B) leaders are raising their voice against issues such as non-compliance of pre- poll guarantees by AAP and other issues. It is also trying its best to strengthen its organisational structure. Will the party succeed in its goals? Let the time come.
