PAU AGRI-ENGINEERING STUDENTS GAIN INSIGHTS ON INNOVATION AND ARC GIS THROUGH EXPERT SESSIONS

Ludhiana, December 3, 2024: The Training and Placement Cell, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology (CAET), Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organized expert sessions for B.Tech (Agricultural Engineering) students on "Invention to Innovation: Building Businesses from Ideas" and "Arc GIS Applications in Research." Er Nitin Gupta, CEO and Co-Founder of Sickle Innovation, and Er. Sumit Sharma, an alumnus of the CAET 1999 batch, conducted the sessions.

Dr. Manjeet Singh, Dean of CAET, welcomed the experts and emphasized the critical role of innovation in modern agricultural engineering. He highlighted the importance of leveraging technologies like Arc GIS to address current challenges and create opportunities for startups.

Er. Nitin Gupta, a former ISRO professional and alumnus of the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, shared his journey from idea generation to establishing a successful venture. He inspired students by detailing his vision and career path, underlining the importance of translating ideas into impactful businesses.

Er. Sumit Sharma elaborated on the practical applications of Arc GIS in addressing research problems. He also provided free access to the Arc GIS software for use in the College Book Bank Computers, ensuring students could explore and apply the technology hands-on.

Dr Satish Kumar Gupta, Professor in Charge of Training and Placement, coordinated the sessions and expressed gratitude to the speakers for their informative and motivational insights, which aimed to empower the next generation of agricultural engineers.
