PAU Agronomy HoD Dr Hari Ram honoured with Prof Manjeet S Chinnan distinguished Prof Chair Award
Dr Hari Ram, Principal Agronomist (Wheat)-cum-Head, Department of Agronomy, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has been honoured with "Prof Manjeet S. Chinnan Distinguished Professor Chair Award" by the PAU for a period of four years. In the domain of research, he has been instrumental in the development of 33 crop production and protection technologies as well as agronomic evaluation of 39 different varieties of pulses, wheat, durum wheat, and barley.
Ludhiana, July 10, 2024: Dr Hari Ram, Principal Agronomist (Wheat)-cum-Head, Department of Agronomy, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has been honoured with "Prof Manjeet S. Chinnan Distinguished Professor Chair Award" by the PAU for a period of four years. In the domain of research, he has been instrumental in the development of 33 crop production and protection technologies as well as agronomic evaluation of 39 different varieties of pulses, wheat, durum wheat, and barley.
Additionally, Dr Ram has handled 12 research projects as Principal Investigator (PI) and CoPI. He has also published more than 121 research papers in the national and international journals. Besides, he has an h-index of 30 and an i10 index of 58 with more than 3,800 google scholar citations; contributed 88 popular articles; and delivered 26 radio/TV/Facebook live talks and more than 180 lectures to the farmers, vocational trainees and the extension personnel.
A highly decorated agronomist, Dr Ram is a recipient of Dr S Nagarajan Memorial Award from the Society for Advancement of Wheat and Barley Research, Karnal and the Achievers’ Award from the Society for Development of Human and Nature, Solan. As a team member, he has also received the Best ICAR Mungbean Team and Wheat and Barley Team Award. Furthermore, Dr Ram is a fellow of three national level societies, Indian Society of Agronomy, New Delhi; Society for Advancement of Wheat and Barley Research, Karnal and Society for Scientific Development in Agriculture and Technology, Uttar Pradesh. In academics, he has guided eight M.Sc. and Ph.D students and taught different agronomy courses to the UG and PG students.
Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, congratulated Dr Ram for this significant achievement and continued success.
The PAU Registrar Rishi Pal Singh, and Deans and Directors also hailed Dr Ram, believing that excellence in research, teaching and extension efforts will be carried further in the future as well.
