PAU celebrates World Environment Day
Under the All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP)- Women in Agriculture (WIA), the Department of Family Resource Management, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), celebrated the World Environment Day at Anganwari centre of village Kotli Than Singh, district Jalandhar.
Ludhiana, May 30, 2023: Under the All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP)- Women in Agriculture (WIA), the Department of Family Resource Management, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), celebrated the World Environment Day at Anganwari centre of village Kotli Than Singh, district Jalandhar. In view of the world being inundated by plastic, focus was on providing solutions to plastic pollution. About 35 farm families, Panchayat members, Sarpanch and students participated in this event.
Dr Shivani Rana, Scientist, AICRP-WIA, stressed upon creating awareness for the protection of the environment. She also highlighted the importance of environment day and gave tips to conserve natural resources. Later, she proposed a vote of thanks.
To encourage herbal garden plantation among farm families, Moringa plants and PAU literature were distributed among participants at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Pataran, district Jalandhar, where a plantation drive was also held. It was supported by supervisors and workers of Anganwari, namely Kamlesh Kaur, Rajwinder Kaur and Jasveer Kaur of the village.
