PAU celebrates World Photography Day; MP Arora appreciates VC & Harpreet Sandhu for all efforts
MP (Rajya Sabha) from Ludhiana Sanjeev Arora launched Documentary and Pictorial Work compiled by eminent Author and Nature Artist Harpreet Sandhu former Additional Advocate General Punjab on Natural Scenic Locations of Punjab Agricultural University Ludhiana at PAU, Ludhiana on Monday.
Ludhiana, August 19, 2024: MP (Rajya Sabha) from Ludhiana Sanjeev Arora launched Documentary and Pictorial Work compiled by eminent Author and Nature Artist Harpreet Sandhu former Additional Advocate General Punjab on Natural Scenic Locations of Punjab Agricultural University Ludhiana at PAU, Ludhiana on Monday.
The launch was dedicated to World Photography Day 2024 today. Arora who was chief guest at the launch ceremony, highly appreciated the efforts of Harpreet Sandhu in compiling documentary and pictorial work capturing the natural beauty of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). He added there is a need to popularize documentary among the masses. He announced to earmark a sum of Rs.50,000 out of his own pocket for popularising documentary on social media platforms.
Arora appealed to the PAU authorities to give an easy access to Ludhianvis for PAU Campus because there are many restrictions at present. He opined that an easy access of people to the PAU Campus would make it more popular. He said there is a need to find out a solution to this matter. On the occasion, he appealed to MC Ludhiana Commissioner Sandeep Rishi who was also present at the event, to make Ludhiana city at par with the PAU Campus as far as cleanliness and greenery is concerned.
Further, Arora expressed his views on photography and said photography was a passion for him during his schooling, adding that he had even won an award for outstanding photography. He congratulated Harpreet Sandhu for compiling Documentary and Pictorial Work and also thanked PAU VC Dr Satbir Singh Gosal for extending his full support to Sandhu in completing the task.
On the occasion, PAU VC Dr Satbir Singh Gosal said Documentary and Pictorial Work are vibrant celebration of the serene landscapes and picturesque vistas that PAU’s students, faculty and staff are fortunate to enjoy daily. He said this initiative of Sandhu is a bog achievement. He added the initiative is an invitation to the people of Ludhiana to discover and cherish the natural splendors that grace the University. He revealed that turnout of visitors to PAU Museum has increased manifold due to some initiatives taken by Arora. He said more than 60,000 people visited this museum in the last one year, adding that earlier, turnout of visitors was very less.
In his address, Harpreet Sandhu shared his experiences of capturing natural scenic locations of PAU in the last about one year. He said every photograph and a scene tells a story. He said he has succeeded in capturing natural scenic locations of PAU, Ludhiana which have never been explored by any photographer till now.
Two professional photographers, Manjit Singh and AP Singh and PAU student Mankirat Singh were felicitated for the outstanding work as photographer on the occasion.
Arora was presented a colorful photograph taken from the PAU Campus by Harpreet Sandhu. A photograph of Harike Pattan captured by Sandhu was also presented to Arora to hand over it to Department of Tourism, Punjab for display in the office.
Among others, the PAU Registrar Dr Rishipal Singh and Director (Students’ Welfare) Dr Nirmal Jaura were present on the occasion.
