Ludhiana, August 01,2024: The PAU College of Agriculture in Ballowal Saunkhri recently hosted a comprehensive orientation programme for first-year students and their parents.
Dean Of the college, Dr. Manmohanjit Singh welcomed the parents and students, announcing that PAU was ranked first among State Agricultural Universities in India in 2023 and is the only agricultural university in India to receive an A+ grade from ICAR. He spoke about the college's comprehensive personality development opportunities, including state-of-the-art facilities such as smart classrooms, advanced living infrastructure, robust research capabilities, experimental fields, well-equipped laboratories, a modern library with the latest e-resources, a fully Wi-Fi enabled campus, and excellent hostel facilities for both boys and girls. Dr. Singh also highlighted various scholarships available to students, such as the University Merit Scholarship, Dr. Dev Raj Bhumbla Scholarship, and Dr. G.S. Khush Foundation. He detailed the attendance and academic requirements necessary for successfully completing the semester, urging parents to adhere to these rules and maintain regular communication with advisors.
The event began with a warm welcome from Dr. Anuradha, setting the tone for an informative and engaging session.
Dr. Abrar Yousuf, the Academic Coordinator, congratulated the new students on their successful entrance exam results and their admission to this esteemed institution. He provided an overview of the B.Sc. Agri. (Hons) 4-year degree program and stressed the importance of parents meeting with their children's academic advisors, who are vital in guiding their educational journeys.
Dr. Swapnil Pandey, Warden of the Girls' Hostel, outlined the hostel rules and regulations, ensuring a smooth transition for students into hostel life.
Dr. Anuradha introduced various student clubs, such as the Speakers' Forum Association, Young Writers' Association, DDMC, and Fine Arts, highlighting the importance of extracurricular activities in students' holistic development. She also provided information about the club in-charges.
Dr. Kulwinder Kaur, a member of the Anti-Ragging Committee, discussed the consequences of ragging and reaffirmed the college's strict anti-ragging policies. As the convener of the Counselling Cell, she encouraged students to seek her guidance for any concerns they might have.
The event concluded with best wishes to the students for their academic journey and a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. K.K. Sharma, the Class Incharge of the first-year batch of 2024-25, expressing gratitude to all attendees and organizers for making the orientation a success.
