PAU College of Community Science hosts welcome function for freshers’
The Home Science Association (HSA) of College of Community Science (COCS), Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, hosted a vibrant Freshers’ Party to welcome the fresh entrants into various course programmes of the College. The College has had remarkable admission this academic year into courses such as B.Sc (Hons) Community Science, B.Sc (Hons) Nutrition & Dietetics, B.Sc (Fashion Designing), Certificate course in ‘Early Childhood Care & Education’ and ‘Interior Design and Decoration.
Ludhiana, September 27, 2024: The Home Science Association (HSA) of College of Community Science (COCS), Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, hosted a vibrant Freshers’ Party to welcome the fresh entrants into various course programmes of the College. The College has had remarkable admission this academic year into courses such as B.Sc (Hons) Community Science, B.Sc (Hons) Nutrition & Dietetics, B.Sc (Fashion Designing), Certificate course in ‘Early Childhood Care & Education’ and ‘Interior Design and Decoration.
The HSA advisors, Dr Shivani Rana and Dr Prachi Bisht, accorded a floral welcome to the Chief Guest of the event, Dr Kiran Bains, Dean, College of Community Science. Dr. Bains, in her welcome address, congratulated the students who had secured admission to the prestigious College in PAU by the dint of their hard work. She also encouraged the students to follow the three mantras of discipline, respect and integrity in their lives to be successful.
The event included a range of performances marvellously showcased by the students of the senior batches. A Modelling Contest was the highlight of the function, and saw freshers’ dressed in their best attires, decked up beautifully to walk the ramp and create a unique style statement. Nandita Jamwal was adjudged as Ms. Fresher, Jobanpreet Kaur clinched the title of the 1st Runner-up while Jaspreet Kaur walked away with the title of the 2nd Runner-up. Simrandeep Singh won the title of Mr. Fresher.
The Heads of various departments of the College, faculty and students attended the function. The event acted as a melting-the-ice occasion, wherein, students got the opportunity to interact with the faculty as well as students of senior batches in an informal environment. Stage performances electrified the evening and helped to bring the immense potential of students to fore.
A vote of thanks was proposed towards the culmination of the event, once again spotlighting the role of para-academic activities in the holistic development of students.
