PAU Economics Team shines at National Conference in Mumbai
The team of the scientists and scholars from the Department of Economics and Sociology, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), showcased remarkable achievements at the 84thAnnual Conference of the Indian Society of Agricultural Economics (ISAE), held at Karaikal, Puducherry, from November 11-13, 2024.

Ludhiana, November 22, 2024: The team of the scientists and scholars from the Department of Economics and Sociology, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), showcased remarkable achievements at the 84thAnnual Conference of the Indian Society of Agricultural Economics (ISAE), held at Karaikal, Puducherry, from November 11-13, 2024.
Highlighting their excellence, a research paper titled “Analysing India’s Trade Balance of Horticultural Commodities: Trends and Policy Implications,” earned the prestigious “NA Mujumdar Award” for the best paper presentation, reflecting significant contributions to policy research in agriculture. The paper has been co-authored by Priya Brata Bhoi, Kamal Vatta, Pradipkumar Adhale, Sunny Kumar and Kashish Arora. Adding to the accolades, Ph.D. scholars Sukhvir Singh and Simranjit Kaur from the Department of Economics and Sociology bagged the “Best Ph.D. Presentation Award” for their outstanding research, marking a proud moment for PAU.
Dr Kamal Vatta, Professor of Economics at PAU, was also honoured with the “ISAE Fellow Award” for his lifetime contributions to agricultural economics and rural development.
Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU; and Dr AS Dhatt, Director of Research, congratulated the economists and the students for brining laurels to the University.
Dr JM Singh, Head, Department of Economics and Sociology, said that these achievements underscored the academic and research excellence of PAU, reinforcing its status as a leader in advancing agricultural economics and rural studies on national and global platforms.
