Ludhiana, April 18, 2017: Dr Beant Singh, Assistant Entomologist, Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), recently completed post-doctoral fellowship at Rothamsted Research (RRES), Harpenden, United Kingdom (UK). He was awarded the prestigious Rothamsted International Fellowship on “Characterization of bird cherry oat aphid, (Rhopalosiphum padi L.) resistance in land races and wild wheats”by RRES in 2016. He worked for nearly one year on pre and post alighting behaviour of aphid resistance in wheat with Dr Gia Aradottir, Principal Investigator, Department of Biological Chemistry and Crop Protection, RRES, UK. During this time, he also presented a paper (oral) on “Characterization of bird cherry-oat aphid (Rhopalosiphum padiL.) resistance in Watkins wheats” atMonogramConference on Wheat, held at University of Bristol, UK. He also attended five different statistical training courses in the Department of Computational and System Biology, RRES, UK. Apart from this, he has been a part of “Rothamsted open innovation forum” held in at RRES, UK in January 2017.
