PAU Experts enhance skill and healthy security of farm women
The Department of Human Development and Family Studies, College of Community Science, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organized skill development training for livelihood sustainability at the community hall of the village Liyan, block Siddhawan Bet, district Ludhiana.
Ludhiana, January 9, 2024: The Department of Human Development and Family Studies, College of Community Science, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organized skill development training for livelihood sustainability at the community hall of the village Liyan, block Siddhawan Bet, district Ludhiana.
Organised in collaboration with Punjab State Rural Livelihood Mission (PSRLM), the training was held under the aegis of the All India Coordinated Research Project – Women in Agriculture and saw the participation of 25 farm women. It was facilitated under the project “Assessment of livelihood status of farm women and appropriate interventions for enhancement of livelihood in different agro-ecological regions” with the objective of enhancing the skill and health security of the farm women.
Experts provided hand-holding in soap making and delivered a talk on “Reproductive Health Care.”
The resource person Dr Parvinder Kaur, Assistant Professor, Home Science from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Samrala, demonstrated the process of soap making and explained the participants how they could make use of this skill for commercial purpose.
Referring to the farm women as “Kisan Sakhis,” Dr Prachi Bisht, a scientist from the Department of Human Development and Family Studies, stressed upon maintaining good reproductive health, and also explained the myths and acts related to mensuration.
The event was supported by Neelesh Singh, District Programme Manager, Harmeet Singh, Block Programme Manager and other active members of the mission PSRLM.
