PAU-FASC Sangrur conducted an awareness camp on management of pests, weeds and nutrients in wheat at remote Village Shahpur
Under the direction of the Director of Extension Education at PAU Ludhiana and with the motto "reach to unreach," FASC Sangrur organized a village-level camp on the most recent advancements in weed, insect, and nutrient management for wheat crops in the remote village Shahpur, Sangrur.
Ludhiana, January 7, 2025: Under the direction of the Director of Extension Education at PAU Ludhiana and with the motto "reach to unreach," FASC Sangrur organized a village-level camp on the most recent advancements in weed, insect, and nutrient management for wheat crops in the remote village Shahpur, Sangrur.
Dr. Ashok Kumar, District Extension Scientist-cum-Incharge, FASC Sangrur gave a thorough talk on how to manage pink stem borer infestation in wheat crops, including recommended insecticide dosages. He explained to the farmers the symptoms of manganese and zinc deficiencies in wheat and berseem as well as their corrective measures. Additionally, he provided comprehensive details on the application of potassium nitrate in wheat. Questions from farmers were addressed, including how to sample soil, which weedicides to use to control broadleaf weeds and gulli danda, and how to apply sulfur. Young farmers expressed interest in becoming members of the Punjab Naujwan Kisan Sanstha and did so. Additionally, a pink stem borer-infested wheat field in the village of Nadampur was also visited. The farmer was guided in accordance with PAU recommendations.
