PAU holds lecture on qualitative research methods in social science research
The lecture was followed by discussion with the participants
Ludhiana: The Department of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organized a guest lecture on “Qualitative Research Methods in Social Science Research” as a part of the ongoing series of lectures. Dr Pampa Mukherjee, Professor, Department of Political Science, Panjab University, Chandigarh, was the keynote speaker of the online lecture, in which about 100 M.Sc and Ph. D students participated.
Dr Mukherjee informed about the basic tools of qualitative research methods. She cited that qualitative research focused on generation of data with the answering of questions to what, where and when of decision making process. She also stressed that there was no actual cause effect phenomenon in qualitative research. Blending both qualitative and quantitative methods in social science research was vital, she added.
Dr Kuldeep Singh, Head, Department of Extension Education, appreciated the experiences shared by the guest speaker and said these could motivate the students to integrate such methods in their research work.
