PAU holds workshop on cognitive therapies
The Department of Human Development and Family Studies, College of Community Science, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has organized a three-day training workshop on ‘Cognitive Therapies and its Integration with Mindfulness’ which is underway at PAU. The workshop is being attended by faculty and elective, undergraduate and postgraduate students of the department.
Ludhiana, June 6, 2023: The Department of Human Development and Family Studies, College of Community Science, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has organized a three-day training workshop on ‘Cognitive Therapies and its Integration with Mindfulness’ which is underway at PAU. The workshop is being attended by faculty and elective, undergraduate and postgraduate students of the department.
Dr Tarlochan Singh, Founder Director and Promotor, Psychowaves Groups and also Head, Department of Behavioral Health, Hunjan Superspeciality Hospital, Ludhiana along with other experts deliberated on various aspects of behavioural therapy. During training, students were educated about counselling skills, psychotherapy, and use and integration of psychotherapeutic skills in counselling. The second day focused on the techniques of cognitive therapies in different situation, moods and thoughts i.e. behavioural activation, cognitive restructuring and the application of client’s problems. The last day of workshop will be focusing on integrating Cognitive Behavioral Techniques (CBT) with Third- Wave Psychotherapies and will conclude with the mindfulness skill and mindful based cognitive techniques.
Dr Deepika Vig, Head, Department of Human Development and Family Studies, welcomed the resource person.
Dr Ritu Mahal, Assistant Professor and coordinator of the workshop, discussed the need of the cognitive therapies in today’s world and how these helped to manage problems by changing the way we think and behave.
