PAU IMPARTS TRAINING IN PREPARATION OF NATURAL VINEGAR

Ludhiana, November 18, 2016: A two-day training course on “Preparation of Natural Vinegar and Non-Alcoholic Carbonated Beverages” concluded at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today. Farmers and farm women from various parts of Punjab participated in the course, conducted by the Directorate of Extension Education, PAU.

In her concluding remarks, Dr (Mrs) Parampal Kaur Sahota, Head, Department of Microbiology, PAU, exhorted the trainees to start their own ventures in this direction for better economic returns and less expenditure.

The Course Coordinator, Dr T.S. Riar said that experts highlighted the history, significance, future and economics of natural vinegar as well as non-alcoholic carbonated beverages. They also imparted practical training in the preparation of natural vinegar from sugarcane juice, and making of non-alcoholic carbonated beverages from lemon and fruit juices, he added. Apart from this, the experts educated the trainees about the packaging and marketing of products, and bank loan facilities available for this purpose.

During the training, experts Dr G.S. Kochhar and Ms Bhupinder Kaur were also present.

Dr Rupinder Kaur, Professor of Extension Education, urged the trainees to equip other farmers and farm women with the knowledge regarding this enterprise. Later, she proposed the vote of thanks.

Meanwhile, another two-day training course on “Concept of Farming Systems and its Limitations” concluded at PAU today. Agriculture Officers, Agriculture and Horticulture Development Officers, District Extension Specialists and scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendras attended the course.
