PAU inks MoA for apple cider (vinegar) technology
The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, entered into an agreement with M/s Sharva Pharmaceuticals, Muzzafarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, for licensing of Apple Cider (Vinegar) technology. Dr AS Dhatt, Director of Research, PAU and Mr Pankaj, Proprietor, Sharva Pharmaceuticals, signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on behalf of their respective organizations. As per the agreement, the University offers non-exclusive rights to the firm for this technology.
Ludhiana, July 24, 2023: The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, entered into an agreement with M/s Sharva Pharmaceuticals, Muzzafarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, for licensing of Apple Cider (Vinegar) technology. Dr AS Dhatt, Director of Research, PAU and Mr Pankaj, Proprietor, Sharva Pharmaceuticals, signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on behalf of their respective organizations. Dr Dhatt and Dr Gursahib Singh Manes, Additional Director of Research (Farm Mechanization and Bioenergy), PAU congratulated Dr GS Kocher, Principal Microbiologist-cum-Head, Department of Microbiology, for the commercialization of this technology.
Dr Kocher said: “PAU has been actively engaged in research on fermented vinegar. A number of fermentation technologies on vinegar production from sugarcane, grapes, jamun and apple have been recommended and commercialized by PAU. The research on brewed vinegar focuses on increasing use of fermented/natural vinegar prepared from traditional fruits that carry nutritional and therapeutic values besides value addition of the horticultural produce.” There is a huge demand of apple vinegar due to its medicinal and health promoting properties, he added.
Dr Manes, Director, Technology Marketing and IPR Cell, informed that PAU has signed 326 MoAs and commercialized 78 technologies including hybrid lines of mustard, maize, chilli, brinjal, biofertilizers, leaf colour chart, water testing kit and other technologies.
