PAU inks pact for commercialisation of sugarcane juice bottling technology

Ludhiana: The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, has entered into agreement with Cane-O-Blast, Aurangabad-431001 (Maharashtra) for the commercialisation of sugarcane juice bottling technology.  Dr N.S. Bains, Director of Research, PAU, and Mr. Narayandas Mathuradasji Bajaj, Director, Cane-o-Blast, Aurangabad, signed the Memorandum of Agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.
According to the memorandum, the university offers non-exclusive rights to the above mentioned company for bottling of sugarcane juice by PAU within India. Dr  Bains congratulated Dr (Mrs) Poonam Aggarwal Sachdev, Head, Department of Food Science and Technology and Karanvir Gill, Business Manager, PABI for developing the technology  for shelf stable, preservative free,  ready to serve bottled sugar cane juice. Giving details about the technology, Dr Poonam Sachdev, Head, Department of Food Science and Technology revealed that the sugarcane juice is thermally processed to kill microorganisms and increase shelf life, thereby offering a completely healthy and hygienic product in comparison to the roadside vendors. She said that the training was imparted to Mr Rohit Narayandas Bajaj, Production and Management Director, Cane-o-Blast, Aurangabad on 30 June 2020 via online platform which included explanation of procedure and sharing of recipe.  Dr Gursahib Singh, AdditionalDirector of Research, PAU, congratulated the proprietors for sharing responsibility of disseminating the technologies developed by PAU.
Dr. S.S. Chahal, Consultant (Scientific), Technology Marketing and IPR Cell, informed that PAU has signed 6MoAs for Sugarcane Juice Bottling Technology with various companies across the nation, besides signing a number of MoAs and commercializing 53 technologies including hybrid lines of mustard, chili, brinjal, bio-fertilizers, leaf colour chart, water testing kit, products, apple cider etc.
