PAU INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR JOURNALISM AND MASS COMM PROGRAMME

Ludhiana, May 3, 2018: The admission process for Master of Journalism and Mass Communication (MJMC) has started at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). Graduates of any stream – medical, non-medical, commerce or humanity – with 60% marks can apply. The admission is through entrance test. The last date to apply is May 11, 2018.

According to Dr Jagdish Kaur, Head, Department of Agricultural Journalism, Languages and Culture, the two year degree programme of MJMC has near-perfect placement. The University has also introduced the MJMC in the regular mode from this session instead of self-supporting, she added. The total fee for first semester is Rs 43,350, whereas, for the second semester, it is 16,970 only, she informed.

Dr Kaur said the Department is committed to the development of professional skills, critical thinking and journalistic ethics. It prepares versatile journalists who are ably suited to enhance the profession. The MJMC focuses on sensitizing the budding journalists to the realities of the developmental divide in the country, she added. Besides regular teaching modules, it involves communication research studying how people use messages to generate meaning in an agricultural society, and finally, examine communication processes and their effects, she told.
