PAU-KVK Fatehgarh Sahib hosts Awareness Camp on Crop Residue Management at Government Senior Secondary School, Sangatpur Sodian
The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Fatehgarh Sahib, in collaboration with the Directorate of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), and ICAR-ATARI Zone 1, Ludhiana, organized a one-day awareness camp on Thursday, at Government Senior Secondary School, Sangatpur Sodian.
Ludhiana, October 24, 2024: The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Fatehgarh Sahib, in collaboration with the Directorate of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), and ICAR-ATARI Zone 1, Ludhiana, organized a one-day awareness camp on Thursday, at Government Senior Secondary School, Sangatpur Sodian.
The camp, which aimed to mobilize students to raise awareness about the harmful effects of crop residue burning, saw the participation of around 150 students.
Under the guidance of Dr Vipan Kumar Rampal, Associate Director (Training), the event highlighted the role of school students in spreading awareness. It showcased the recommended technologies for paddy residue management, including farm machinery. Dr. Arvind Preet Kaur, Assistant Professor (Horticulture), discussed the various uses of paddy straw, particularly in mushroom cultivation.
Dr. Manisha Bhatia, Assistant Professor (Home Science), organized speech and poster-making competitions for the students, with winners recognized and awarded.
Principal Sarabjit Singh encouraged the students to participate actively in the campaign and thanked the KVK faculty for organizing this important awareness initiative—faculty members Pooran Sehgal, Amandeep Kaur, and Jasvir Kaur also participated.
