PAU-KVK Gurdaspur hosts training on rapeseed-mustard cultivation under CFLD Project

Punjab Agricultural University’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Gurdaspur, conducted a training programme on rapeseed-mustard cultivation under the Cluster Frontline Demonstrations (CFLD) on Oilseed Crops under the NFSM Project at village Pachowal. The event, aimed at enhancing farmers’ knowledge and skills for cultivating gobhi sarson (canola), drew the participation of 75 farmers from the region.

Ludhiana, January 22, 2025: Punjab Agricultural University’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Gurdaspur, conducted a training programme on rapeseed-mustard cultivation under the Cluster Frontline Demonstrations (CFLD) on Oilseed Crops under the NFSM Project at village Pachowal. The event, aimed at enhancing farmers’ knowledge and skills for cultivating gobhi sarson (canola), drew the participation of 75 farmers from the region.

Dr Satwinderjit Kaur, Associate Professor (Soil Science) and Training Coordinator, welcomed the participants and emphasized the potential of oilseed production to boost farm income. She also highlighted the importance of soil health and balanced fertilization for sustainable crop production and long-term agricultural success.

Dr. Rajwinder Kaur, Assistant Professor (Plant Protection), shared valuable insights into Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and Integrated Disease Management (IDM), addressing farmers’ concerns about effectively controlling pests and diseases in oilseed crops.

Dr. Anil Kumar Khokher, Assistant Professor (Agronomy), discussed effective strategies for weed management in rabi crops and provided practical solutions to optimize crop health and yield.

As part of the programme, farmers received critical inputs such as bentonite sulphur and PAU literature to encourage adopting sustainable agricultural practices.

Ramesh Lal, a progressive farmer from village Pachowal, expressed his gratitude to the experts for their guidance and thanked the participating farmers for their active involvement. He urged his peers to make the most of such informative initiatives to enhance their farming practices and productivity.
