PAU-KVK, Gurdaspur involves Government Senior Secondary School students in campaign on crop residue management
Under the aegis of the Directorate of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, and ICAR-ATARI, Zone I, Ludhiana, PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Gurdaspur organised an awareness seminar on crop residue management at Government Senior Secondary School, Hardo chhani on October 30, saw the participation of about 275 students.
Ludhiana, November 4, 2024: Under the aegis of the Directorate of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, and ICAR-ATARI, Zone I, Ludhiana, PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Gurdaspur organised an awareness seminar on crop residue management at Government Senior Secondary School, Hardo chhani on October 30, saw the participation of about 275 students.
The event featured poster making, declamation and quiz competitions, all centered around the harmful effects of crop residue burning on human health and the environment.
Dr Anil Khokhar, Assistant Professor (Agronomy), KVK Gurdaspur, educated the students on the harmful impact of crop residue burning on soil and environment and throw light upon the alternative in-situ residue management techniques. Dr Yamini Sharma (Fruit Science) enlightened the students with the environmental risks of stubble burning and planting more plants to save environment.
Naresh Sharma, Principal of the school, highlighted the environmental risks of stubble burning and urged students to actively participate in promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Ret. headmaster Vijay Kumar.
