PAU-KVK Kapurthala conducts vocational training on bakery and confectionery for farm women
PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kapurthala, organized a five-day vocational training on Bakery and Confectionery from October 21 to 25, with 15 farm women from the district participating. The training aimed to equip participants with skills to prepare nutritious bakery items at home, promoting healthier alternatives to store-bought products, especially ahead of the Diwali festival.
Ludhiana, October 25, 2024: PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kapurthala, organized a five-day vocational training on Bakery and Confectionery from October 21 to 25, with 15 farm women from the district participating. The training aimed to equip participants with skills to prepare nutritious bakery items at home, promoting healthier alternatives to store-bought products, especially ahead of the Diwali festival.
Avneet Kaur Ahuja, Associate Professor (Home Science), led demonstrations on making a variety of chocolates with ingredients such as peanuts, dry fruits, pumpkin seeds, fox nuts, desiccated coconut, and fruit puree. She also demonstrated the preparation of kaju katli, nutritious cakes using jowar and ragi flour, ragi cookies, oat cookies, banana bread, plain cakes, and vanilla muffins.
Participants were introduced to essential baking equipment and common baking faults, along with methods to rectify them. The women also learned about the business model for establishing a bakery unit as outlined by PAU, Ludhiana. To conclude the training, PAU-published bakery books were distributed to all participants, providing them with further guidance for their culinary ventures.
