PAU-KVK Ropar conducted Awareness Programme on Crop Residue Management for College Students
The PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ropar organised an awareness program on "Crop Residue Management" at Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College, Anandpur Sahib on November 13, with an overwhelming participation of over 112 students.
Ludhiana, November 13, 2024: The PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ropar organised an awareness program on "Crop Residue Management" at Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College, Anandpur Sahib on November 13, with an overwhelming participation of over 112 students.
The program was chaired by Dr. Satbir Singh, Deputy Director (Trg.) and team of experts from KVK, Ropar to mobilize and sensitize the college students regarding ill-effects of crop residue burning and its management options. Various competitions such as poster making, slogan writing, essay writing and declamation contest were organized and coordinated by Manpreet Kaur, Demonstrator (Home Science).
Dr. Aparna, Associate Professor (Animal Science) sensitized the college students regarding the harmful effects of paddy straw burning on human health and environment. She also threw light on various uses of paddy straw for agriculture and livestock. Dr Urvi Sharma (Assistant Professor, Plant Protection) enlightened the participants regarding various techniques and methods with which farmers can sow wheat crop by managing paddy residue in the fields.
The program ended with the award distribution ceremony aided under the esteemed presence of Dr Jasvir Singh (Principal, SGTB Khalsa College). He extended vote of thanks to the entire team and participants for the successful organisation of the event.
