Ludhiana, June 12, 2024: In a bid to empower rural women and college-going girls with valuable skills, PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) organized a dynamic five-day vocational training program from June 5th to 12th, 2024. Focused on the art of clothing embellishment, the programme amalgamated both traditional and modern techniques, drawing enthusiastic participation from eager learners.
The inauguration, led by Er. Karun Sharma, Incharge at KVK, Ludhiana (Samrala), marked the beginning of an enriching journey for the participants. Sharma's warm welcome and congratulations set the tone for a collaborative and productive learning environment. He underscored the programme's broader objectives of women's empowerment through skill development, cultural heritage preservation, and fostering economic self-reliance. By blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary methods, the initiative aimed to not only nurture creative expression but also encourage entrepreneurship among the participants.
Dr. Parvinder Kaur, Assistant Professor (Home Science) at KVK, guided the attendees through a comprehensive curriculum encompassing both theoretical insights and practical demonstrations. Techniques such as block printing, tie-dye, stencil painting, and screen printing were among the skills imparted, promising to equip the participants with a versatile toolkit for fabric embellishment.
