PAU-KVK Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar organizes vocational training

PAU- Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Langroya, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar organized a Vocational Training Course on ‘Eco-friendly Cleaning Agents’ for entrepreneurship development from July 08-12, 2024, at their KVK premises. The training which was conducted under the aegis of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) and ICAR-ATARI, Zone-1, Ludhiana, saw the participation of 33 trainees.

Ludhiana, July 15, 2024: PAU- Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Langroya, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar organized a Vocational Training Course on ‘Eco-friendly Cleaning Agents’ for entrepreneurship development from July 08-12, 2024, at their KVK premises. The training which was conducted under the aegis of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) and ICAR-ATARI, Zone-1, Ludhiana, saw the participation of 33 trainees.

Renu Bala, Demonstrator (Home Science), KVK, Langroya, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, welcomed the participants and discussed different types of cleaning agents available in the market that are also high in demand.

Dr. Rajinder Kaur, Assistant Professor (Home Science), gave hands-on training for the preparation of low-cost high benefit ratio-based cleaning agents for domestic and commercial scale. Practical sessions on liquid dish wash, phenyl, washing detergent and hand wash were also conducted to benefit the trainees. The experts later sought feedback to evaluate the efficacy of the developed products. The technical experts also delivered lectures on procurement of raw material, preparation of different cleaning products, packaging, marketing and branding of developed products etc.

An exposure visit to Aatman Udyog, a manufacturing handmade soap, located at village Bika, block Banga, was also organized by the KVK on July 11, 2024 to facilitate a working demonstration for the trainees. The owner of the manufacturing unit, Mrs. Rashpal Kaur Sandhu and Miss Archana Shah demonstrated the manufacturing of handmade soap, right from preparing the solution in a container to its packaging and labelling. Mrs. Sandhu also discussed her ‘over a decade journey’ for making ‘chemical-free soap’ and also shared knowledge of different licences required to start this enterprise.

Dr. Maninder Singh Bons, Associate Director (Training), also addressed the trainees and advised them to adopt subsidiary occupations for a sustainable income in agriculture. He also thanked all the participants for attending the training.
