PAU NSS Cell launches National Road Safety Month 2025 Campaign with Workshop and Rally

In alignment with the directives of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), the National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, organized a one-day workshop on road safety as part of the National Road Safety Month 2025. The month-long campaign, observed nationwide from January 1 to January 31, 2025, aims to promote safer roads through education, advocacy, and community engagement.

Ludhiana, January 13,2025: In alignment with the directives of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), the National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, organized a one-day workshop on road safety as part of the National Road Safety Month 2025. The month-long campaign, observed nationwide from January 1 to January 31, 2025, aims to promote safer roads through education, advocacy, and community engagement.

The event, themed “Arise, Awake, and Realize the Power You Hold,” was organized in collaboration with the Punjab Police, Ludhiana, and brought together NSS volunteers and stakeholders to raise awareness about road safety measures and reduce road accidents.

The workshop was chaired by Gurdev Singh, PPS, ACP, Ludhiana-West, who emphasized the importance of road safety in daily life and the role of youth in nation-building. He praised Dr S.S. Gosal, Vice Chancellor of PAU, for supporting the initiative. S. Jasvir Singh, Head Constable of the Traffic Police Education Department, provided practical road safety tips, discussed accident statistics in Punjab and Ludhiana, and stressed using ISI-approved helmets, seat belts, and first aid kits. Inspector Rajinder Singh, SHO, PAU, also motivated students to champion road safety practices.

Dr. Nirmal Jaura, Director of Students’ Welfare, commended the Punjab Police for their commitment to civilian safety and encouraged future collaborations for community welfare. Following the workshop, a road safety rally was conducted on the PAU campus under the supervision of Dr. K.S. Suri, Joint DSW. NSS volunteers spread awareness through slogans, posters, and handbills, aiming to reduce road fatalities and promote safe practices among the public.

Dr. Harmeet Singh Saralch, NSS Programme Coordinator, highlighted the social values instilled by NSS, fostering a spirit of voluntary service among students. The event also saw participation from Dr Sanjay Satpute, Dr Dilpreet Singh, and Dr Manjot Kaur, who guided and encouraged the volunteers. The programme was coordinated by Dr Dilpreet Singh, marking a successful launch of the National Road Safety Month 2025 Campaign at PAU.
