PAU organises camp on natural resource management
The Department of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organized a camp on “Natural Resource Management” under the guidance of the Dean, College of Agriculture, in which about 70 farmers of Pabbian village, Jagraon block participated.

Ludhiana, September 17, 2024: The Department of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organized a camp on “Natural Resource Management” under the guidance of the Dean, College of Agriculture, in which about 70 farmers of Pabbian village, Jagraon block participated.
Dr Kuldeep Singh, Head, Department of Extension Education, inspired the farmers to embrace sustainable practices. He emphasized on conserving natural resources to ensure that future generations inherited a fertile and resilient land by adopting PAU’s recommended techniques such as Resource Conservation Technology, soil water conservation techniques, sustainable crop management etc. to bring prosperity for all.
Dr Lakhwinder Kaur, RAWE Coordinator, informed the farmers about the prevailing conditions of water scarcity in Punjab and promoted the cultivation of low water-consuming varieties of paddy.
Dr Seema Garcha and Dr Suman Kumari, experts from the Department of Microbiology, elaborated on the use of biofertilizers for improving soil health and its fertility. The farmers were given complete information on the methodology of incorporation of biofertilizers for different crops and recommended use of pesticides in agricultural crops.
Dr Parkash Singh, Chief Agriculture Officer, motivated the farmers to shun paddy straw burning and adopt in-situ management of paddy straw using improved farm machinery. He also shared different schemes of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare.
Dr Dharminder Singh, Principal Scientist (Extension Education), proposed a vote of thanks and encouraged the farmers to keep themselves updated with the latest farm information by reading PAU farm literature and through PAU apps.
The RAWE students informed the farmers about soil and water testing, PAU literature, vegetable kits for nutrition garden, etc. On the occasion, farmers who did not burn paddy fields in the last years were also honoured.
Dr Jaswinder Singh, Dr Pardeep Singh, Dr Amandeep Singh, Gurcharan Singh (President of Cooperative Societies), Dr Paramvir Singh and Ujaagar Singh (village Sarpanch), were also present at the programme. Krish Arora, Group leader, RAWE, coordinated the whole programme.
