PAU student brings laurels at international conference

Ludhiana, July 31, 2023: Dr Mehak Jain, Department of Economics and Sociology, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has brought laurels to the University by bagging the “Best Ph.D Thesis Award” and “Best Oral Presentation Award” during the 4th International Conference on “Innovations to Transform Agriculture, Horticulture and Allied Sectors” jointly organized by the Malla Reddy University, Hyderabad; Indian Society of Agriculture and Horticulture Research Development (ISAHRD), Chandigarh and Just Agriculture Education Group at the Malla Reddy University, Hyderabad from June 21-23. She has completed her Ph.D. under the guidance of Dr Shalini Sharma, Professor of Sociology, PAU. Her Ph.D research was focused on "A study on women empowerment among farm households in Punjab." She was awarded the “Best Oral Presentation Award” for her presentation on "Health and nutritional status of farm women in Punjab."
Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU; Dr Shammi Kapoor, Dean, College of Basic Sciences and Humanities; Dr Pardeep Kumar Chhuneja, Dean, Postgraduate Studies; and Dr JM Singh, Head, Department of Economics and Sociology, congratulated the student for this achievement and wished her bright future ahead.
