PAU to organize seven kisan melas in March in Punjab

Ludhiana: The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) will organize seven Kisan Melas across the state in March 2020. Giving details, Dr JS Mahal, Director of Extension Education, PAU, informed that the series of the melas will commence with the first Kisan Mela at Ballowal Saunkhri and Nagkalan Jahangir, Amritsar on March 6. The Kisan Melas at Faridkot and Gurdaspur will be held on March 12 followed by Kisan Mela at Patiala on March 17, he said. The Kisan Mela at PAU, Ludhiana is scheduled for March 20 and 21, whereas, Kisan Mela at Bathinda is slated for March 25, he added.
Dr Mahal said the melas provide knowledge about new varieties, latest agricultural technologies and improved home management practices. Besides, planting material, improved and quality seed, farm publications, etc. can also be purchased at the melas. Agro-industrial exhibition is one of the major attractions of the mela, he added. Dr Mahal called upon the farmers, farm women and the rural youths to participate in the Kisan Melas with full enthusiasm.
